In 2013, Christina was diagnosed with cancer. The changes that followed were sweeping and immediate. Diet, environment, everything in the home came under scrutiny. She adapted to most of them. But one loss stayed with her longer than the rest: her candles. The scents she had built her home around, the ritual of lighting something at the end of the day, the particular comfort of a room that smelled like somewhere you wanted to be. That, she missed most.
The journey

Christina is diagnosed with cancer and forced to change every part of her lifestyle — including giving up the candles she loved most.
A solution
After years of research, she begins crafting her own candles from non-GMO coconut apricot wax — clean enough to burn with complete confidence.

She did not burn candles for years. She read labels, researched ingredients, and learned exactly why her doctors had asked her to stop. Most candles on the market are made with conventional waxes and scented with fragrance oils that contain phthalates and other compounds that degrade indoor air quality. The more she learned, the more she understood that the problem was not candles. It was what was inside them.
So in 2020, she decided to solve it. What began as a personal project, finding a way back to the thing she loved without compromising her health, gradually became something she wanted to share. Coconut Cottagehouse was born from that impulse: to create a candle she could burn with complete confidence, and offer that same confidence to anyone who needed it.
The problem was not candles. It was what was inside them. So she decided to solve it.

Christina is committed to using natural, high-quality ingredients made from non-GMO coconut apricot creme wax, a vegan blend of sweet apricot and creamy coconut that burns longer, cleaner, and more beautifully than conventional alternatives.
Every candle is scented with phthalate-free fragrance oils and wicked with lead-free cotton or natural wooden wicks. Nothing synthetic, no petroleum byproducts, no shortcuts.
